This Is What Art Can Do is a collection of stories, essays, poems, and reflections exploring the role of art in times of change. Blending personal narrative with cultural critique, the book examines the transformative power of art during social, spiritual, and ecological upheaval. Rooted in my experience as a Black mixed-race artist and community organizer, it offers a meditation on art as a tool for healing, resistance, and collective reimagination. From public murals and protest art to solitary creation, the book traces art’s role as both lifeline and mirror. The project will be independently published alongside public readings, workshops, and community dialogues.
